Data collected from the small islands of ‘Atata, Malinoa, and Fafa, which were affected by a tsunami, will be utilized to create inundation forecast models for future volcanic tsunami events in Tonga. The tsunami caused significant damage to the islands, with wave heights estimated to have reached 7m, 6.5m, and 6m above sea level on ‘Atata, Malinoa, and Fafa, respectively, according to TGS.
